Values

Bindings, mutability, lists, and records.

let binds a value; bindings are immutable unless you say let mut. Numbers, strings, and booleans behave the way you expect.

fn main():
    let answer = 42
    let pi = 3.14159
    let active = true

    let mut count = 0
    count = count + 1
    count = count + 1

    println("answer={answer} pi={pi} active={active} count={count}")

Lists index from zero; records are written with {key: value} and read with dot access. len, first, and last work on both lists and strings.

fn main():
    let primes = [2, 3, 5, 7, 11]
    println("first={primes[0]} last={primes.last()} len={primes.len()}")

    let star = {name: "Vega", distance_ly: 25, magnitude: 0.03}
    println("{star.name} is {star.distance_ly} light-years away")
